A Catholic school must be a place where all knowledge and relationships are transformed by questions of meaning, by the quest for meaning. We must have a profound respect for what is all too often repressed in this culture - that quiet voice which expresses the infinite desire of each person for God. ~ This Moment of Promise, OCCB, 16

Our Catholic Schools

There are five elementary schools and one high school in our parish. The parish and schools are in active partnership to helping pass on our faith to the next generation.

At the beginning of each school year the pastor and the catechist meet with the principals to touch base and plan for the upcoming year. As well, the catechist meets each year with the Grade 8, 3 and 2 teachers to communicate about sacramental preparation. The priests celebrate Eucharistic liturgies with the schools a few times a year.

The catechist assists teachers and students in the preparation of these and other non-Eucharistic liturgies. As well, the catechist visits the schools on a regular basis to speak with students and to connect with the school community.

The parish also publishes a newsletter for everyone who attends our parish schools and Sunday school programme. This provides an opportunity for us to communicate to families what we are doing in the parish and to offer a little inspiration and insight on various faith matters.

New Canadian Mass Setting

Recently we introduced a new setting of the sung mass parts: Gloria (Glory to God), Sanctus (Holy), Mystery of Faith, Great Amen and Agnus Dei (Lamb of God). This will be our primary mass setting for at least the next year. Parishes all across Canada are learning this beautiful setting by Winnipeg priest, Fr. Geoffrey Angeles. You can hear MP3 sound files of these mass parts below. (We are using a different setting at the 12 o'clock mass.)
