When we honestly ask
ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it
is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather
to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend
who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with
us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not
curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a
friend who cares.

In response to the call of the Beatitudes, and
recognizing our common grief, the Ministry of Consolation and Hope acts on
behalf of St. Johns Parish to journey with and offer hope to those who are
coping with bereavement.
The members of the Ministry of Consolation and Hope include individuals who have
received training and formation in order to journey with people who are
experiencing grief.
They can provide support on behalf of the parish as we experience the emotions
of grief and express our grief through mourning.
Ministers of consolation:
-
meet with individuals and families who request
support
-
organize liturgies and prayer services for
those who are experiencing grief
-
send cards to those who have experienced grief
-
where the grief experience is complex, they
will assist people in connecting with specialized counselling or other
sources of grief support in the community.
We invite you to call
the parish office for further information on how you may receive assistance and
support.
We also invite interested individuals who would like to become involved in this
ministry to contact the parish at 905-898-4137 or
fill out and submit the form on the Life of Service
web page.

Plenty of
exercise will help sadness.
