  Anointing of the Sick

In the tradition of Jesus, the healer, the church takes its responsibility to comfort and heal those who are ill very seriously. The healing ministry of the church includes not only the Sacrament of Anointing, but also a well developed pastoral ministry to the sick.

The Companion Servers take communion to those who cannot join us for Sunday Eucharist and bring the consolation of the community to those who are suffering.

At Sunday Eucharist, we pray for those who are sick. And, when it is God's will that our life is over, the church prays for us and offers us consolation in our time of sorrow.

If you wish to celebrate the Sacrament of the Sick, to have prayers added to the Sunday intentions, to receive a visit from one of the priests, or to have communion brought to you when you or someone you love is unable to attend church, please contact the parish office.

These are the ways in which we minister to the sick:

  • administering the Sacrament of the Sick

  • Sunday Mass Intention

  • Priest Visit

  • an intention read in the General Intercessions

  • Communion to the Sick

  • Mass Cards

Praying for the Living and the Dead

It is an important part of our faith to pray for both the living and the dead. At every liturgy, we offer our prayers to God during the General Intercessions (or Prayers of the Faithful). Included in these prayers are petitions for friends and family members who are ill or who have died. If you wish to have a name added to these prayers, please contact the office during the week.

Also, Mass Cards are available in the parish office. There are cards which are appropriate for the intentions of the living as well as for those who have died. These can be purchased at a cost of $10 for an unannounced mass and $20 for an announced mass.
