"The Church of Christ is really present in all legitimately organ-ised local groups of the faithful, which, insofar as they are united to their pastors, are quite appropriately called Churches in the New Testament. In them the faithful are gathered together through the preaching of the Gospel of Christ, and the mystery of the Lord's Supper is celebrated so that by means of the flesh and blood of the Lord the whole unity of the Body may be welded together."

Pastoral Council

January 2009:
The Pastoral Council was disbanded because it was no longer functioning properly. Instead we will hold a meeting of all the group leaders, twice a year.

The purpose of the meeting will be to get a feel for what is happening in the parish – positive or negative and to address any concerns that you or your members might have regarding our parish life. Thus you might canvass them ahead of time regarding any issues they might have.

Finance Council

The Finance Committee is composed of parishioners and the pastor. The council monitors the expenditure of funds and publishes a statement each year on the revenues and expenditures, as well as a budget for the coming year.

Pre-Authorized Giving Plan

The Work of St. John's is made possible through the generosity of its' parishioners. The parish Pre-Authorized Giving plan may be a good choice for you. It makes giving easier and more convenient, reduces office paper work, no envelopes if you choose, continual parish support when you are away.

Who looks after the plan?

Why should I participate?

How do I enroll?

These and other question are answered in our new Pre-Authorized Giving pamphlet.

You may click the button below to open the flyer. To save it on your computer, right click the button, and choose "save target/link as".

Fill out the form and drop it in the collection basket or mail it to the parish office. Thank you for your support of the parish!

  Volunteer Ministries

It is the obligation of the Church to ensure that those who receive assistance are protected and that those who minister to the vulnerable in our community are also trained and protected. Thus, as mandated by the Archdiocese and in accordance with Ontario government regulations, the parish established a Volunteer Ministries Team in 2001. This team is responsible for screening and registering all volunteers in every ministry in the parish. Since the parish is very active and vibrant, there are over 80 different volunteer positions -- from altar server to companion server; from lector to decorator. A further responsibility of this committee is to recruit new volunteers as needed and to provide support to the various ministry coordinators.

  Stewardship

No parish can exist without the sharing of the time, talent and treasure of the members of its community. To run a vibrant and visionary parish, requires considerable resources in all these areas. Our parish depends upon the support of all its members not only financially but also in terms of time and talent. The parish encourages its members to use weekly envelopes or to arrange for weekly "direct deposit" donations. These methods of financial contribution help to ensure that the parish has a consistent and regular income with which to meet our operating costs. To arrange for either of these options, call the parish office. Periodically, we also have special collections for capital expenditures as well as for other charitable purposes such as Share Life. Tax receipts for all who donate are issued each year.

All programmes, committees, sacraments and services the parish provides are provided regardless of anyone's ability to contribute financially toward the cost of these programmes. We do, however, depend upon the generosity of those who have the means to support the parish and are appreciative for all that parishioners give.
